Will the next generation Ipad be called Ipad 3? Apple has shown – with the Iphone – that it does not always follow the regular model numbers. Some are saying that Ipad 3 will be named Ipad 4G. It will feature 4G LTE technology which will make it connect and download data faster. This next generation Ipad was launched on March 7th 2012 .
In addition to 4G the Ipad will also have the new retina display which is a better display than the ones that is there now. It will be such a high resolution that it will be impossible to make out individual pixels. There have been some rumors of supply chain problems with this display. The display is the most expensive part of the Ipad and the retina display will cost even more to make. This tells us that the rumors of an Ipad price drop are too far fetched.

The 4G Ipad will be a major step forward. Apple has the best selling smartphone and tablet and yet it does not have 4G on any of these two devices. The Iphone “5” which they named 4G launched in October 2011 does not have 4G. AT&T and Verizon have 4G networks and will be happy to have an Ipad and Iphone that can use their fast 4G networks. They also have a million of users and Apple is definitely hoping to take advantage of that.
Verizon has already declared that all its new smartphones will have 4G LTE. However Ipad may have to change some design specs to accommodate 4g. Some are saying that Ipad 4 which is thinner than the Iphone may have to be a millimeter or two thicker than the Ipad2.

1. The LTE allows the Ipad to connect to faster AT&T and Verizon Networks( 4G speeds).
2. Apart from the 4G , the new Ipad also comes with a retina display which is a much clear resolution than the Ipad 2 display.Unlike other displays you cannot make out individual pixels on the screen. It has double the resolution of the previous Ipad 2G.

The only gripe I hear is about the price for the 32Gb and 64 Gb being too high. My advice is – if you dont need to store too much data on your Ipad then the 16GB is more than adequate.
