When the first generation Ipad came out people were shocked to find out that it did not have a camera. The Ipad was based on the same OSX operating system which was on the iPhone – yet the IPhone had a camera. The decision to have an Ipad without a camera is still mystery.

Anyway out came Ipad 2 and it has two cameras- a front and a rear camera. The front camera is meant for “FACETIME” or the ability for video chats. For the first time people can now talk to friends and relatives in distance lands and see them on the screen. You can simply tap to make video calls from the Ipad to anyone else who has an Ipad 2, an Iphone, Ipod touch and or Mac. This is done over the WiFi.
So you can now add talking smiling and laughing to the traditional phone call. You can even join birthday parties of loved ones who are away for work or other overseas assignments. Simply find their name in your favorites list and tap the FaceTime button and you are connected.
However make sure that you buy an Ipad 2 which has two cameras. The First generation Ipad does not have cameras.
